The Kintsugi Tiger
Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi - finding and creating beauty in what’s been broken - this prowling tiger is rendered in deep Payne's grey with stripes, fur, and accents of gold mica tracing through its form like mended fractures. But that gold strengthens the cracks, reminding us that in our resiliency, we find some of our greatest and most beautiful strengths,12×23″, ink, archival watercolor, and gold mica pigment on heavy Arches cold press paper with dappled edges.

The Fire Horse - 2026 Zodiac
Born from ink and watercolor on Arches hot press, this fire horse rears through waves of gold — mane ablaze, hooves striking air. Painted by Lor Begent, a queer, apprenticeship-trained artist rooted in Japanese tattoo tradition, this piece channels the raw power of the 2026 Fire Horse zodiac year. Deep burnt sienna, molten gold, and storm-blue swirl together in flowing lines that echo irezumi composition — bold, alive, and unapologetically wild.Specialty prints in this series of only 13 are hand-embellished with gold mica pigment on a Somerset Velvet watercolor-like paper.
Hand-Embellished Prints Available
Peony in Payne's Grey
A bold golden peony erupts from a cascade of Payne’s grey leaves - Japanese tattoo/irezumi composition meets fine art painting. 18×24″, ink, archival watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and gold mica pigment on heavy Arches hot press watercolor paper. This piece was my first large painting I was able to do after falling ill - representing resilience, the patience found in nature, and turning pain into something beautiful.

About the artist
Lor Bēgent is a queer, disabled, self-taught and apprenticeship-trained artist with deep roots in Japanese tattoo tradition. After beginning their tattoo career, severe illness left them in the dark - unable to tolerate light, in chronic pain, unable to create at all. Over years, they painstakingly re-taught themselves how to draw, digitally illustrate, and paint again by tracing their own work from bed. Most of their work is still made from bed - mythological beasts, gold-veined florals, surreal feminine figures that hold your gaze, and everything fierce and strange in between. The line work is learned under the needle. The gold is earned. Nothing looks away.
